1. See Grünewald's dying Christ,
       mocked, beaten, and reviled.
   Grief-laden one, compassionate,
      his hands now writhe.
   Through hanging on the cross,
      his body slumps and weeps.
   In our dark night, death of delight,
      Christ's dying frees!
